September 10, 2026 | 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Employees often miss work due to unexpected challenges such as a broken-down car, a utility shutoff notice, a lack of gas money, or an unforeseen family emergency that create barriers to work.
Join HelpLink, a Michigan-based nonprofit and ASE Member, as they share their inspiring journey from a small Facebook community called Spark in the Dark to a nationally recognized, technology-enabled platform helping businesses support employees in times of need.
During this session, attendees will explore the connection between employee hardship, absenteeism, retention, and workplace culture. HelpLink will discuss how organizations can provide dignified and discreet support while strengthening employee engagement and community impact.
Whether you are an HR professional, business leader, or people manager, you'll leave with practical ideas to help employees overcome barriers to work while building a stronger, more connected workplace.
Participants will receive a handout with additional Social Security & Medicare resources, including a compilation of ‘Common Questions’ that are often asked by older employees. All member participants will receive one entry into the Member Appreciation Month grand prize drawing for a 2027 event pass.
Presented by: Abagail McKiernan, Co-founder, HelpLink

ASE Members: Complimentary
Non-members: $49
