Objectives: Participants will learn how to organize their message so the reader is influenced to accept a particular viewpoint. This course will cover tone, structure, and tools for composing a piece of writing that influences a desired outcome.
Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
Identify key elements in influencing others
Consider the use of tone and how it influences a reader's acceptance of ideas
Develop a structure for putting together a written persuasive case
Determine the effectiveness of simile, metaphor, anecdote, and data as persuasive writing tools
Analyze effective persuasive techniques in various works
Provide reasons to support a stated opinion
Organize ideas and write a persuasive piece
